About The Position

Design and prepare packaging on the spot that conveys an impression of the company to the end customer, utilizing the options provided in the manufacturing instructions. Ships outbound product in an accurate, efficient and economical manner to customers in compliance with customer preferences, internal, federal and international shipping guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares product for packaging by checking customer order and model numbers against packing list to ensure proper models and quantities are shipped to correct customers. Processes may include verifying product against travelers, following shipping checklists for each shipment, weighing, package forming, product inlay, labeling, strapping, pulling packing slips and small parcel scheduling in clipper ship.
  • Utilizes established methods of packaging, packages the product to specification and attaches address labels and carrier information stickers to packages to ensure timely and safe delivery to customers.
  • Works with Logistics Specialists to ensure proper paperwork is generated to accurately process outbound shipments and has the capability to run clipper ship for domestic shipments independently and international shipments with assistance from a Sr. Packaging Specialist.
  • Schedules pack completion based on productions delayed orders and ready to ship reports.
  • Maintains a strict packaging time cutoff for international carrier arrangements to be made by logistics team.
  • When needed, helps logistics and receiving load and receive trucks to expedite inbound and outbound functions.
  • Inputs data into ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) computer system to generate packing slips.
  • Participates in team process improvement activities and efforts to improve packaging design, process flow, communication, flexibility, efficiency and customer responsiveness. Notifies lead or supervisor of any unsafe practices or changes that aren’t working or could be improved.
  • Cross-trains with Sr. Packaging Specialists to learn best and most efficient methods for packaging.
  • Works with Sr. Packaging Specialist to get certified as a forklift operator.
  • Knows and applies the division’s quality policy and procedures of ISO 9001 as it relates to area of responsibility and the organization. Follows all standard operating procedures as prescribed and notifies appropriate personnel of any non-conformance. Assists in outbound procedure creation, updates, and requests using ISO and quality policy guidelines.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties and special assignments when required to support team when workload balance shifts to include substituting for other packaging personnel or cross training throughout the shipping and logistic departments as required; some activities may include: a. Provide support for repackaging of incoming material for reconsolidations. b. Work with receiving to help move and store packaging material into the shipping department. c. Other tasks deemed needed by either the Packaging Lead or Supervisor.
  • Maintains good housekeeping practices to facilitate orderly, safe, and efficient operations.
