About The Position

The Packaging Shift Manager is a key leadership role in our food powder manufacturing facility, responsible for leading and managing the daily operations of the packaging department during their assigned shift. This role oversees and provides hands on coaching of a team of Packaging Supervisors and the hourly packaging team members to ensure the safe, high-quality, and efficient packaging of finished goods to meet the production schedule. The Packaging Shift Manager is pivotal in ensuring the execution of production plans, driving strategic continuous improvement, developing production employees, cross-functional collaboration, while creating a culture of ownership. The role reports directly to the Sr. Packaging Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, business, or related field (or equivalent practical experience with a high school diploma or GED).
  • 4+ years Production supervisory or management experience in food manufacturing or packaging environment.
  • Proven experience leading teams in a fast-paced, high-volume production setting.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations.
  • Experience managing Continuous Improvement through manufacturing metrics (MES/5S/OEE/LEAN MANUFACTURING).
  • Knowledge and Experience with Food Production Equipment.
  • Experience in food and/or consumer products environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of GMP/HACCP.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop Packaging Supervisors to foster culture of safety, accountability and high-performance, and to grow talent to prepare them for future leadership roles.
  • Oversee the workforce planning, training and performance management of all Packaging team members on the shift to ensure ownership and elimination of losses.
  • Optimize resources across production lines to ensure safe, efficient and effective operations, adhering to quality standards.
  • Analyze and improve line performance using Lean tools, OEE metrics, and root cause analysis.
  • Develop and track KPIs that link line performance to cost savings, throughput, and labor efficiency.
  • Translate operational performance into financial impact by identifying cost drivers, waste reduction opportunities, and efficiency gains.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve safety, quality, cost, delivery, and people objectives; while meeting production demands and achieving organizational goals.
  • Provide necessary business and technical leadership in safety and quality standards, ensuring compliance and excellence.
  • Drive accountability and ownership at the line level through daily management systems (e.g. shift hand-off, structured meetings), engaging team members and implement tactics to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Maintain a high level of completion of quality initiatives for plant such as CAPA Completion/ NSF Preparedness/HAACP Awareness/GMP's with team.
  • Strongly advocate for safe work habits and following safety behaviors at all levels and departments within the site above all else.
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with safety, quality, and professional standards within the food manufacturing facility.
