About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Packaging Project Engineer to lead and support a range of engineering initiatives within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing packaging equipment projects from concept through implementation, ensuring alignment with production goals, quality standards, cost targets, and regulatory expectations. This position offers the opportunity to independently manage projects while also contributing to larger, cross-functional efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting (pharma, consumer goods, or similar industries preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with equipment design, installation, commissioning, and validation in a regulated environment
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear communication and technical documentation skills
  • Familiarity with cGMP and regulatory expectations
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings such as P&IDs and process flow diagrams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAD or related design tools is a plus
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence outcomes

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for packaging systems related to both new product launches and existing product lines
  • Develop layouts and specifications for packaging equipment and coordinate system integration
  • Oversee equipment installation, startup activities, and operational verification
  • Create and implement testing and qualification plans for new systems
  • Participate in vendor evaluations, including factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT)
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, including defining scope, timelines, and budgets
  • Estimate costs and monitor financial performance throughout project lifecycles
  • Contribute to capital planning and long-term investment strategies
  • Deliver regular updates and reports to stakeholders
  • Review vendor proposals, technical documents, and change requests for accuracy and feasibility
  • Partner with internal teams such as Operations, Quality, Engineering, Procurement, and external vendors
  • Facilitate communication across departments to address technical challenges
  • Ensure all solutions align with internal standards and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and applicable regulatory standards
  • Support change management processes for equipment and process updates
  • Lead or assist with validation activities for new and modified systems
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements
  • Promote a culture of quality and compliance across all activities
  • Generate and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, work instructions, and reports
  • Ensure accurate project records and documentation are maintained
  • Train operations personnel on new equipment and procedures
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineering staff
