About The Position

We are currently recruiting a Packaging Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate for this position will have prior packaging experience in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills including active listening.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently and able to ask for help when needed.
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
  • Must be comfortable and efficient in working in a busy open-floor environment.
  • Must be comfortable working in a team environment as well as individually.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of working in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Forklift experience certification a plus.
  • 1+ years of prior packaging experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Package finished goods and perform other duties related to the preparation of products for shipment to customers.
  • Use prescribed methods to pack, seal, and label containers.
  • Count items manually and place into proper size containers or use weigh-count scale when necessary.
  • Dump containers at packing machine using hydraulic container dumper or pick items from floor level containers.
  • Set up and operate automated carton sealing machine to package products.
  • Use hand trucks, platform trucks, hydraulic pallet trucks, and forklift trucks (when qualified) to move materials throughout the plant and warehouse.
  • Assemble cartons using hand operated tape dispensers or electric-powered continuous wire type stapling machine.
  • Sort damaged, incomplete, or otherwise inferior parts while packing and place in proper containers.
  • Close cartons using tape dispensers or hand-operated carton stapling tool.
  • Refill tape dispensers and stapling tools when necessary.
  • Use computer to create package labels.
  • Stamp, stencil and/or label cartons with necessary information.
  • Use material handling equipment to move surplus materials to proper storage areas.
  • Assist with periodic inventories when required.
  • Perform simple assembly of multi-component products.
  • Assist in maintaining a daily account of all materials placed into stock.
  • Report to Supervisor/Plant Manager when assignment has been completed.
  • Assist in maintaining the plant, warehouse and dock areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Follow all established safety rules and procedures including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Report defective materials and unusual or unsafe conditions to Production Control Manager and/or Plant Manager.
  • Performs other related or additional duties as assigned.
