Packaging Operator (Manufacturing Machine Operator)
About The Position
Packaging Operators are responsible for running an entire production line in a high-speed manufacturing operation. This includes operating and troubleshooting various machines such as fillers, carton code daters, check weighers, metal detectors, cartoners, conveyors, glue machines, and palletizers. The role requires working 12-hour shifts, with flexibility for day or night shifts, and involves significant time standing. Operators are expected to be proactive in maximizing production, preventing downtime, and working effectively in a team environment with quick communication. Key aspects include attention to detail, maintaining quality standards, ensuring a clean and safe work environment, and actively participating in training and problem-solving to achieve optimal production.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a high speed manufacturing operation
- At least 2 years’ hands-on experience working on a manufacturing floor in a high speed operation
- Requires a high school graduate or equivalent
- Able to follow oral and written instructions
Responsibilities
- Running an entire production line, which includes - filler, carton code dater, check weigher, metal detector, cartoner, conveyor, glue machine and palletizer
- Work 12 hour shifts, flexible to work day or night
- Work OT as required
- Learn quickly, proactive in efforts to maximize production & prevent downtime
- Work well with others in a team environment with frequent, effective, and quick communication
- Troubleshoot and operate manufacturing equipment to identify root causes of problems
- Pay close attention to detail and alerts supervision if numbers fall outside expected quality ranges
- Maintain a constantly clean and safe environment for themselves and their peers
- Take an active role in the department, to include provide/receive training, critical problem solving, and striving to be a top performer with optimal production numbers
- Arrive for work on time for the start of the shifts
- Follow safety rules and operational procedures
