About The Position

SUMMARY OF POSITION Operates one or more complex rewinding, converting, coating, and/or slitting machines in the grade two classifications. Effectively direct the work center team to meet the safety, quality, and productivity goals.

Requirements

  • Complete any manufacturing formal training specific to assigned work centers.
  • Able to perform multiple, sometimes complex, tasks.
  • Work requires effective math skills.
  • Must demonstrate a professional attitude toward work and co-workers.
  • Must be punctual and dependable. (Arriving to work, showing for overtime, managing break times, etc.)
  • High School or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Work requires hearing, mental and visual attention and 100% standing during the workday.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs., able to bend and lift frequently, and able to work around dust.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex machine set up and changeovers.
  • Operate assigned equipment efficiently.
  • Communicate with the Shift Manager and Team Leads when production goals are not met to define and eliminate barriers.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of the machine.
  • Ensure that the assigned machine(s) are working in a safe and proper manner.
  • Notify the Shift Manager, Team Leads or the Maintenance Department of any safety issues immediately.
  • Instruct fellow team members of the safe operation of the machine and point out potential hazards that may be present.
  • Follow production schedule as communicated by the planning team or direction of the Shift Manager.
  • Follow established standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Review and follow the work order instructions.
  • Notify Shift Manager and Team Leads of work order discrepancies.
  • Confirm component accuracy with the Bill of Material.
  • Set assigned machine to run at speed which will result in goal attainment.
  • Support safety, housekeeping, 5S, and preventative maintenance initiatives as required.
  • Instruct new team members of the basic safety, quality and productivity standards at the work center.
  • Use personal protective equipment when required.
  • Support the company’s culture and values by promoting communication, teamwork, and respectful treatment of all individuals.
  • Update production metric boards accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct a visual inspection of raw material while running to look for defects.
  • Notify Shift Manager, Team Leads or the Quality Assurance Department of defective material or questions concerning quality issues.
  • Notify material handlers in a timely fashion to eliminate material shortages.
  • Complete required work center documents accurately.
  • Pack finished product correctly in respect to quantity and product orientation.
  • Ensure that the finished good item is labeled accurately.
  • Fill out Supplier Quality Cost Recovery Form accurately as needed for chargeback.
  • Calculate standard production requirements from the work order.
  • Communicate effectively the hourly production goals to team members.
  • Move team members into position to balance line and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Knowledgeable in the facility’s Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Adhere to the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Performs special projects as assigned by the Manufacturing Shift Manager.
  • Accurately count and label partial putaways to ensure inventory accuracy.
