About The Position

The Production Worker / Packaging Operator is a full-time role responsible for performing both bagging and baler operations within a production environment. This involves operating various types of machinery such as bagging and baler machines, shrink wrapping machines, forklifts, pallet jacks, and bag sealers. Key duties include moving and wrapping completed products, stacking bags and bales on pallets, sealing bales, and placing finished goods in the correct warehouse locations. The operator is also responsible for accurately completing production reports, conducting quality control checks by filling pellet sample cups and tagging pallets, and assisting Shift Leads with pellet mill operations. Maintaining a clean workstation and assisting other production areas as needed are also part of the role. The position requires physical stamina, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for at least 7 hours per day, along with good coordination, mechanical aptitude, and basic math skills.

Requirements

  • Will be lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Standing for a minimum of 7 hours per day
  • Good eye, hand, and foot coordination
  • Need to pass the company forklift training
  • Required to read and interpret scales
  • Requires mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to adjust the weight and timing of baler and various other simple maintenance problems
  • Requires the ability to do simple math calculations

Nice To Haves

  • Prior forklift experience
  • Prior production line experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform the bagging operation
  • Perform the baler operation
  • Maintain the ability to perform both bagging and baler functions as determined by the Shift Leads
  • Operate machinery in a productive manner using the established safety guidelines and procedures
  • Assist other production areas, as needed
  • Move and wrap completed products
  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Stand for a minimum of 7 hours per day
  • Assist the Shift Leads to start and stop the pellet mills
  • Communicate any moisture or material problems to Shift Lead
  • Maintain a clean workstation
  • Operate a variety of machinery, primarily bagging and baler machines, shrink wrapping machines, forklifts, pallet jack, and bag sealer
  • Stack bags on pallets
  • Put covers on pallets
  • Place finished goods in the correct warehouse location
  • Accurately complete the Bagger production report
  • Fill pellet sample cups every ton for quality control information
  • Tag pallet with Quality Control tag with initials, date, ton number, and the shift the pallet was completed
  • Stack bales on pallets
  • Seal bales with an iron
  • Wrap pallets
  • Accurately complete the Baler Operator production report
  • Check bale weight
  • Record information on various reports and quality control tags
