ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The Machine Operator has the responsibility to successfully complete the position training program found in the plant training manual. The Machine Operator has the authority to shut down production equipment to prevent the production of defective product. Has the authority to place Non-Conforming Product on Hold. Randomly checks parts produced every hour for any possible defects (including grease, flash, punctures, and other defects), to ensure that customer specifications are met. Places parts in specified relationship to each other. Monitors flow of parts into assembling machinery, secondary equipment, and storage containers. Tends machines, such as presses which perform in molding area, according to machine (product) standard. Works at different work stations as production needs require. Works on line where tasks vary, as parts of various sizes and shapes move along the line. Packs all parts which are of good quality into boxes, in preparation for sealing and shipping. Completes daily report of parts produced and any scrap parts which resulted, including downtime. Notifies Production Supervisor and Process Technician whenever items produced do not meet quality requirements, or if machinery need repair. Uses calculator to arrive at accurate calculations of different production-related data. Wears all required personal protective equipment. Maintains housekeeping of all work areas and equipment. Starts-up molds according to set-up sheet. Completes daily log of activities on an accurate and timely basis. Makes process and parameter changes to ensure the highest quality possible. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments. Starts devices to test their performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Capable to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must attend all required Safety/OSHA training classes
  • Must adhere to all Safety Rules as posted in employee handbook and in the plant
  • All employees must adhere to the Amcor “No Injuries Program”
  • Must be GMP/HACCP/Food Security Trained
