About The Position

The Machine Operator for the Packaging Shift is responsible for operating packaging equipment to produce quality products efficiently and safely. This role emphasizes a strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork, ensuring that production flows smoothly while adhering to all safety regulations and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to work overtime as needed (voluntary/occasionally mandated).
  • Prolonged standing with continual movement to all positions within the packaging line.
  • Occasional lifting of less than or equal to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent bending and stooping.
  • Ability to speak and understand the English language.

  • Previous and/or current line operations experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment.
  • Inspection experience.
  • Experience in a role responsible for meeting standard production goals/KPIs.
  • Manufacturing line experience with large equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate packaging lines according to prescribed methods to maintain production flow.
  • Manage multiple equipment modules simultaneously, including fillers, cappers, cartoners, and case packers.
  • Support and promote a safety culture with a goal of zero accidents.
  • Train new operators on machine operation, safety, productivity, quality, and ISO procedures.
  • Handle minor troubleshooting of equipment, including clearing jams and making weight adjustments.
  • Perform line washout, sanitization, and associated paperwork, including disassembly and assembly of fillers.
  • Stock lines as necessary and assign staff to positions on the line, explaining responsibilities.
  • Document work order information and track direct labor hours, production reporting, and efficiency.
  • Perform quality checks and associated paperwork with limited support from QA, warehouse, and processing departments.
  • Administer the pocket defect program and practice Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Handle assembly work when required, such as packing bottles into shippers and palletizing.
  • Train temporary staff in safety and quality, providing work instructions.
