About The Position

The Packaging Maintenance Mechanic position is a full-time role based in Newark, DE, requiring the ability to work weekend shifts from Friday to Sunday, 7 PM to 7 AM, with training on the first shift. The role involves performing preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment, troubleshooting system and equipment problems, and implementing solutions to prevent reoccurrence. The mechanic will also be responsible for mechanical and electrical repairs, collaborating with various teams to support continuous improvements, and providing training to other mechanics and operators. Documentation of work in compliance with SOPs, SHE standards, and CGMPs is essential, as is the ability to respond to production problems and prioritize tasks as needed. The position supports a 3-shift, 24x7 operating production site and requires on-call availability during off shifts and weekends.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a relevant field.
  • Ability to work weekend shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7 PM - 7 AM.

Nice To Haves

  • AAS in Engineering Technology.
  • Understanding and operational familiarity with PC/PLC control systems.
  • Pharmaceutical/CGMP maintenance training and experience.
  • Facilities and utilities equipment maintenance experience including HVAC, boilers, air compressors, purified water, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Material Handling equipment maintenance experience including automated cranes, conveyors, sorting systems, and forklifts.
  • General Reliability and asset management knowledge.
  • Competent in SAP.
  • Completion of a state accredited Journeyman, technical school program, or equivalent formal education and field experience.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment to maintain a pharmaceutical production plant.
  • Ability to understand and mitigate safety hazards (e.g., LOTO, line breaking, hot work).
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Able to interpret PID's, electrical schematics, and architectural drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Preventive and Predictive Maintenance on equipment in assigned areas.
  • Use troubleshooting skills to recognize system and equipment problems, identify root cause, and recommend/implement solutions.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical equipment repairs in assigned areas.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors, Operators, Engineers, and peers to identify and implement continuous improvements.
  • Participate in multi-functional teams to support continuous improvement or equipment installation/modification.
  • Provide training/coaching to other mechanics and operators.
  • Document work in compliance with SOPs, SHE standards, and CGMPs.
  • Respond to multiple equipment/production problems and prioritize assignments as needed.
  • Provide support for 3-shift 24x7 operating production site.
  • Act as maintenance owner of assigned system(s).
  • Support installation and qualification of new equipment and systems.
