About The Position

American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 400+ employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the 2nd Shift Packaging Machine Operator role in our Laurinburg, NC facility. JOB SUMMARY The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for working in a safe, efficient manner to maximize hands-on production and shipping of wood shavings.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Physical capability to bend, squat, or stoop
Candidate MUST be able to work in a smoke-free environment

Nice To Haves

Previous mobile equipment and/or forklift preferred
Manufacturing: 1 Year (Preferred)
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly
Ability to respond quickly to sounds
Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
Ability to work in extreme weather
Be able to climb stairs and/or ladder to the stacking station areas
Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly

Responsibilities

Attend monthly safety meetings
Wear PPE as required
Attend trainings as needed and complete required testing with sufficient results
Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner producing packaged materials for AWF customers
Confers with shift supervisor and follows through with assigned work duties
Assist with cleaning up work area
Place an empty bag on the fill tube, seal, place in master pack, and hand palletize (up to 40 lbs.)
Perform outside duties to include sweeping, picking up debris, watering flowers and shrubbery, shoveling snow, and deicing walkways as required
Maintain and verify that all current quality assurance measures are being followed and communicated
