About The Position

The packaging room Line Leader will report, in a timely manner, to the area supervisor on all functions of the packing room. This line leader will respond to all equipment stoppages and ensure that the area supervisor has an understanding of why the stoppages occurred. The line leader is the secondary trainer of all associates in the area and will verify that the associates do their job in accordance to the training.

Requirements

  • Excellent working knowledge of packaging equipment
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Mechanical background and ability to use hand tools
  • Computer skills; MS Word, Excel, Databases and E-mail
  • Trained in Maintenance of CMMS
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to rotate job functions
  • Stand/Walk: Continuously (8 or more hours)
  • Grasp: Continuously
  • Lift/Carry: Continuously Frequently (up to 40 pound boxes)
  • Simple/Firm Grasping: Frequently
  • Bend or squat: Occasional
  • Environment: Continuously - Working around moving machinery, working in a cold, damp environment (below 40° F)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a leadership role

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a food processing facility preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure room is set up for production
  • Verify lines are clean and sanitized
  • Verify labels for the day
  • Monitor and assure effective packaging equipment operation
  • Wrapping, Labeling, Form Packaging
  • Validate PMs on packaging equipment
  • Ensure all labels are correct
  • Spot audits to ensure Julian date, sell by date, label wording and placement, box end labels
  • Coordinate packaging label changes
  • Train packaging operators/technicians on proper equipment care and operation
  • Train packaging associates on proper line tasks
  • Audits
  • Operating product flow during change overs
  • Knowledge of product, labels and box count
  • Complete necessary paperwork and reports in a timely manner
  • Keep the area clean
  • Other duties as assigned
