The Packaging Shift Lead will supervise a team in various packaging functions, operating the bottle filler, canning line, and kegger, as well as directing CIPs and preventative maintenance. This role is responsible for managing daily operations of the line they are assigned to – including staffing and team supervision -- making decisions that aid in efficient, quality production of products. The Shift Lead will coordinate day-to-day work with the Packaging Management Team. You will be accountable for your work and must follow safety brewery guidelines, SOP's, and cleaning procedures.

  • Ensure Redzone is properly utilized during the shift; verify Packaging Quality Control (PQC) checks are completed and reason codes are accurately documented
  • Drive team accountability and foster a culture of ownership and performance
  • Submit detailed and accurate end-of-shift reports
  • Conduct SIM 1 meetings and actively participate in SIM 2 meetings (Short Interval Meetings)
  • Escalate unresolved or urgent issues to the Supervisor promptly
  • Monitor and maintain optimal line speeds to meet production targets
  • Ensure sanitation tasks are completed per the Master Sanitation Schedule and properly documented
  • Enforce adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); recommend updates and improvements as needed
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members
  • Confirm correct packaging mix and materials for current and upcoming production runs based on BBT volume prior to kegging/filling
  • Maintain an up-to-date overview of all BBTs to facilitate smooth information transfer across shifts
  • Identify training needs and assign tasks to team members accordingly
  • Develop or revise SOPs linked to the master training matrix and communicate changes to the Packaging Manager
  • Collaborate with the team to identify maintenance needs and submit timely work orders
  • Ensure completion of daily, weekly, and monthly operational tasks in alignment with shift requirements
  • Create and submit a comprehensive shift report at the end of each shift
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and communicate maintenance issues
  • Submit accurate and timely work orders for equipment or facility needs
  • Monitor and uphold task completion across daily, weekly, and monthly schedules
  • Supervise a team of 5–7 packaging employees, providing guidance and support
  • Delegate tasks effectively during production downtime to maximize productivity
  • Provide hands-on assistance with machinery and equipment as needed to maintain workflow
  • Able to complete following packaging release targets: Sterile Sample collection (as determined by training matrix)
  • Taking measurements of O2/CO2, if necessary, w/ use of the Gehaltemeter OR C-Box (as determined by training matrix)
  • Able to drive forklift for movement of raw goods (can, bottles) as well as finished goods (cases, trays, kegs)
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace

  • Prior manufacturing experience
  • Brewery or beverage experience is a plus
