Our team is diverse, with skillsets and responsibilities ranging from graphic design, content creation and performance marketing to internal communications and loyalty & rewards programs. We work together to provide expertise and guidance, so that the Staples brand is well represented in all areas. What you will be doing: Design and deliver best-in-class packaging systems for consumables and CPG categories across multiple formats, price points, sizes, and SKUs. Translate brand strategy and architecture into packaging that is clear, distinctive, and consistent for both digital and physical retail. Own packaging design from early concept through final production, upholding high standards for craft, accuracy, and execution. Partner closely with structural engineers and cross-functional teams including brand, merchandising, product development, sourcing, and marketing to ensure seamless integration of design, structure, materials, and manufacturing requirements. Provide clear creative direction and feedback to external agencies and vendors, ensuring quality and consistency throughout implementation. Apply strong production judgment across dielines, color, materials, print methods, and vendor handoffs. Contribute to the evolution, documentation, and governance of private brand packaging systems. Develop supporting assets and visual systems, including hero imagery, templates, and product presentation guidelines to ensure cohesive brand expression across all touchpoints. Mentor junior designers and lead workstreams, sharing best practices in craft, file setup, production, and system thinking.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a packaging graphic designer, preferably in a corporate or in-house creative team environment.
  • Portfolio demonstrating impeccable taste, superior design skills, disciplined craft, and production-ready packaging work, with a focus on consumables and CPG categories.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
  • Working knowledge of generative AI tools within a professional design workflow.
  • Experience creating or directing 3D packaging renderings and mockups.
  • Experience supporting or co-leading consumer testing and applying learnings effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design, Packaging Design, Industrial Design, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience designing for high-volume, national retail environments.
  • Familiarity with sustainable packaging materials and design considerations.
  • Experience supporting large SKU portfolios and modular packaging systems.
  • Experience working on or supporting private brand portfolios within a retail or CPG environment.
