About The Position

We are seeking a Packaging Equipment Engineer to lead packaging line and warehouse projects end to end, acting as the single point of accountability from early concept through execution, start up, and post implementation validation. This role is responsible for delivering innovation, capacity, safety, quality, and M&I initiatives across packaging lines and warehouse systems, ensuring projects are technically robust, economically justified, and executed in full alignment with the Early Equipment Management (EEM) methodology as defined by Unilever Manufacturing System (UMS). The Packaging Equipment Engineer is expected to own the full project lifecycle, including scope definition, business case development, structured risk management, stakeholder alignment, procurement engagement, downtime alignment, and data driven decision making, working closely with manufacturing, quality, SHE, finance, procurement, logistics, maintenance, and suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related STEM field.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Experience leading packaging line and/or warehouse equipment projects in an industrial/manufacturing environment (FMCG preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of packaging equipment and palletizing systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross functionally with Procurement and suppliers.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to support decisions using data and structured analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands on experience applying EEM methodology within a UMS (continuous improvement) environment.
  • Experience leading or supporting bidding processes and supplier selection.
  • Experience developing and defending Capex business cases.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, WCM or continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead packaging line and warehouse projects end to end, acting as the single point of accountability from scope definition through execution, start up, validation, and handover to operations.
  • Execute projects in full alignment with EEM methodology as defined by UMS, ensuring discipline across all project phases.
  • Define and manage project scope, assumptions, risks, timeline, Capex, and success criteria, ensuring alignment with business and operational needs.
  • Develop and maintain robust business cases, including economic justification, scenario analysis, and value based decision making.
  • Lead cross functional alignment with manufacturing, logistics/warehouse, quality, SHE, finance, procurement, and maintenance.
  • Work closely with Procurement to define sourcing strategies, lead or support biddings and Project Procurement Plan (PPP), ensure technical clarity and fair supplier comparison.
  • Drive proactive risk identification and mitigation across technical, safety, schedule, cost, and operational dimensions.
  • Define and validate technical solutions for packaging equipment, packaging lines, and warehouse, including supplier management, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and performance validation.
  • Align production and warehouse downtime windows to enable safe and effective project implementation with minimal business disruption.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements and internal engineering, procurement and UMS governance.
  • Deliver complete technical and project documentation and ensure effective handover and knowledge transfer to operations.
