About The Position

The Packaging Engineer will lead and drive packaging initiatives for the Consumer Products Group (CPG), establishing the packaging process and working cross-functionally with exceptional project management skills. This role involves designing and developing structural packaging solutions, managing testing processes, and ensuring compliance with sustainability and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Science/Engineering with a minimum of 7-10 years related packaging experience.
  • Experienced in consumer goods packaging requirements for brick & mortar and direct-to-consumer.
  • Exceptional time management skills to support work across multiple business units.
  • Proficiency in industry standard design software such as ArtiosCAD and TOPs.
  • Experience with ISTA and ASTM testing related to primary and transport package testing.
  • Ability to manage supplier and vendor relationships regarding development and testing.
  • Knowledge of common packaging materials, specifically corrugate, chipboard, and plastics.
  • Proven success in managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to present and communicate packaging ideas to cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Working understanding of CAD software SolidWorks and PDM document management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead packaging engineering, design, development, and testing across all CPG brands to meet milestones and schedules.
  • Manage vendor relationships and oversee die line creation, prototyping, testing, and production validation.
  • Establish a packaging engineering process to support various brands and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to create and validate artwork for primary and transport packaging.
  • Identify and determine feasibility of new sustainable materials and technologies.
  • Support development of claims and communication related to product sustainability.
  • Create die lines for primary and secondary packaging and specify materials for RFQ documents.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of package development and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements in materials and processes to meet sustainability goals.
  • Present ideas and solutions for improvements to management and peers.
