The Packaging Engineer I supports the commercialization of new and existing packages for new product development projects or technical transfers for personal care, Over-the-Counter (OTC), and Cosmetic products, as well as the successful launch and optimization of products through design, documentation, assessment, and analysis. This individual ensures accurate product specifications, documentation, packaging Line Trials, and package testing to support Right-the-First-Time (RFT) launches, production line readiness, and optimization of packaging to improve production line efficiencies. The Packaging Engineer I supports the successful launch and optimization of products through documentation, assessment, and analysis of both packaging and line equipment. They work as part of the Commercialization team to perform Line Trials that define the set-up process and work collaboratively with Engineering and Production Programs to initiate and execute optimization plans. The position ensures the quality of new and existing products by performing packaging compatibility and evaluating the technical requirements of packages.

  • Ensure the successful commercialization of new products through design, testing, and execution.
  • Execute and support Line Trials, resulting in equipment set-up requirements in collaboration with Engineering, accurate Finished Goods (FG) Assembly specifications, and effective handover to the Production Programs for first production.
  • Work in collaboration with Engineering to ensure that machine set-up procedures and specifications are well documented, accurate, and clear to achieve RFT first production and launch.
  • Follow Good Document Practices (GDP) to create, maintain, and catalog documentation.
  • Support the investigation of quality issues and implementation of CAPAs.
  • Support the streamlining of machine set-up instructions and the recording of critical information to ensure consistent performance of machines.
  • Support the Engineering Training/Setup department in the training of Machine Operators based on data-driven learnings from Line Trials.
  • Track execution and success of Line Trials and ensure learnings are carried over to Assembly specs.
  • Execute packaging compatibility.
  • Support Engineering in rapid prototyping with 3D printers and system development.
  • Maintain clear tracking of all projects, including updating of internal team trackers and being ready to provide updates to Launch Managers on various ongoing projects.
  • Strong technical writing/documentation skills are required.
  • Proficient in reading and writing technical documents in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficient in Solidworks.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Proficient 3D printing technology.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Package, or Structural Engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience in the Cosmetics, Personal Care, Food, or Beverage Industry, or Packaging Engineering Internship.
