Requirements

  • Incoming junior, senior, or higher education with at least one semester of school remaining in Packaging Science or related field.
  • Previous work experience in any field is preferred.
  • Work experience or class experience within the internship discipline is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Novice technical skills: hand prototyping, hand drawing, graphic arts knowledge, design prototyping tools.
  • Ability to deliver concepts and ideas with 2D and 3D visuals.
  • Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Excel, familiarity with Word, PowerPoint, ArtiosCAD, Solidworks.
  • An open-minded individual with a spirit of innovation capable of managing a project from start to finish.
  • Ability to multitask, motivated self-starter, and collaborative.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to impactful projects and work that develop critical skills and provide valuable insights.
  • Communicate with and support cross-functional leaders to execute real world work, in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Assist with the hands-on ideation and development of packaging for new products, line extensions, quality improvement, cost improvement, package material substitution and applied package technology related projects.
  • Become competent in packaging design basics for the food industry.
  • Perform bench top and pilot plant experiments.
  • Create packaging prototypes.
  • Manage assigned projects.
  • Problem-solve issues with current packaging.
  • Develop structural and preliminary packaging prototypes.
  • Become familiar with designated plant packaging lines.
  • Attend factory qualifications for packaging materials.
  • Attend focus groups with consumers.
  • Train in consumer and customer insights.
  • Other duties as needed and/or assigned.
