The Packaging Design Associate position at International Paper is designed for motivated individuals who thrive in a flexible, fast-paced environment. The successful candidates will be open to relocation opportunities and will report directly to the area Design Services Manager. They will receive training in one of the corrugated manufacturing facilities or customer commitment centers, where they will learn the trade of corrugated structural design. This position is available in multiple locations across the United States. As a Packaging Design Associate, you will provide design solutions and services to the Value Added Services design teams, helping to build a competitive advantage for the commercial organization. Your work will influence the company's ability to deliver innovative solutions to customers more quickly than competitors, while also developing strong talent to enhance the creative resources available. You will be expected to follow the Design Associate curriculum under the guidance of a mentor, ensuring that you gain the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in this role. Your responsibilities will include providing prototypes to customers, plants, and sales teams to ensure acceptance of design solutions, utilizing Impact CAD software to develop structural solutions, and maintaining a safe and organized design lab. You will manage sample stock inventory, operate CAD tables, and adhere to all housekeeping practices. As an effective team member of the structural design organization, you will contribute design ideas and solutions to both the commercial organization and customers, while maximizing value through efficient resource use. Additionally, you will assist plants in optimizing fiber utilization by understanding board characteristics, plant mix, equipment specifications, and customer needs and expectations.
