About The Position
The Packaging Design Associate position at International Paper is designed for motivated individuals who thrive in a flexible, fast-paced environment. This role is crucial in understanding the needs of the business while maintaining a strong focus on safety, customer satisfaction, quality, and productivity. The successful candidates will be open to relocation opportunities and will report directly to the area Design Services Manager. They will receive training in one of the corrugated manufacturing facilities or customer commitment centers, where they will learn the trade of corrugated structural design. This position is available in multiple locations across the United States. As a Packaging Design Associate, you will provide design solutions and services to the Value Added Services design teams, helping to build a competitive advantage for the commercial organization. Your work will influence the company's ability to deliver innovative solutions to customers more quickly than competitors, while also developing strong talent to enhance the creative resources within the organization. Safety is paramount, and you will be expected to follow safety guidelines diligently. With guidance from your mentor, you will follow the Design Associate curriculum, providing customers, plants, and sales teams with prototypes to ensure acceptance of design solutions. You will utilize Impact CAD software to develop structural solutions and maintain an organized design lab. Responsibilities also include managing sample stock inventory, operating CAD tables, and adhering to housekeeping practices. You will become an effective team member of the structural design organization, contributing design ideas and solutions to both the commercial organization and customers. Additionally, you will assist plants in optimizing fiber utilization by understanding board characteristics, plant mix, equipment specifications, and customer needs and expectations. Balancing the expectations of internal and external customers will be a key aspect of your role.
