Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in packaging engineering having completed sophomore year at the start of Co-Op.
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and vehicle required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must exhibit effective communication skills to communicate on a technical and non-technical level to other departments, outside vendors, and customers.
  • Has ability to apply and broaden knowledge of polymer and corrugate packaging use within the food and consumer products industry.

Responsibilities

  • Under close supervision, executes experiments in the development of packaging using established laboratory/pilot plant procedures.
  • Parallel path several technical solutions and implement the best to meet project goals and appropriate timing without compromising project execution.
  • Accomplish objectives on assignments which have ambiguity associated with their procedures, solutions, approach, etc.
  • May be exposed to commercialization of new products/packaging and if the opportunity presents itself, will gain technical knowledge required to make quick and sound decisions while taking appropriate risks to solve project challenges.
  • May be asked to provide continuous improvement initiatives and regular production support to continue improvement of COGS and provide a solid economic analysis for each initiative.
  • May be exposed to developing packaging specifications for existing and new materials that include performance, finished goods, and pallet specifications.
  • Develops strong relationships and communicates effectively to manage projects with Product Development, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Suppliers, Quality, R D, and Logistics.
  • Will have an opportunity to demonstrate broad range of packaging materials knowledge as it relates to food packaging.
  • Will have an opportunity to design and develop primary and secondary packaging components, with minimal guidance, that meet consumer, Brand, customer, and manufacturing objectives.
  • May have an opportunity to provide innovative solutions to complex problems associated with package design/engineering and manufacturing challenges.
