About The Position

A leading national security firm is looking for immediate package screeners. This position requires employees to use screening technology to screen packages for prohibited items as well as perform equipment and record keeping duties. Hours Monday -Friday late afternoon evening hours.

Requirements

  • Licensed Security Officer
  • Compliant with California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS)
  • Must possess a valid California Guard Card issued by the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS).
  • Guard Card must be active and in good standing.
  • Must complete all BSIS-required continuing education and training hours (including 8-hour annual refresher training).
  • Valid California Driver’s License (if driving is required).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Pass criminal background check and Live Scan fingerprinting.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening (if required by client).
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • No pending criminal cases that would jeopardize BSIS licensing.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of security experience preferred (industrial, logistics, port, or corporate environments if applicable).
  • Experience in access control, patrol, report writing, and incident response.
  • BSIS Powers to Arrest certification.
  • Appropriate Use of Force training.
  • De-escalation and conflict management training.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification (current).
  • OSHA awareness (if working in industrial/marine terminal environments).
  • TWIC card (if assigned to port or maritime facility).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write detailed and accurate incident reports.
  • Ability to operate access control systems, CCTV, and visitor management platforms.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Sound judgment during emergencies
  • Ability to stand and walk for 8–12 hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs (if required).
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies.
  • Must be available for nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Overtime availability as required by contract.
  • Reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Screen packages in compliance with guidelines set forth by employer. Actively screen and search for prohibited items and IEDs.
  • This includes, but is not limited to physical search, explosive trace detection, and X-ray screening. (Will Train)
  • Calibrate and maintain screening technology.
  • Maintain written logs of vehicles that are screened.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of emergency procedures and alarm resolution responsibilities.
  • Complete and provide daily logs and reports for review.
  • Be able to work in a team or part of a group.
