About The Position

Advantice Health is growing fast in beauty and consumer healthcare, and packaging is at the center of how consumers experience our brands. As a Packaging Development Engineer, you will own the technical side of primary and secondary packaging from concept to commercial launch.This role is a great fit for a soon‑to‑graduate Packaging Engineering (or related) major. You will help design, develop, and optimize packaging that protects product quality, meets regulatory and sustainability requirements, and supports an efficient, resilient supply chain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline (completed or expected by spring/summer 2026)
  • At least one co‑op, internship, or significant academic project related to packaging development (beauty, consumer healthcare, pharmaceuticals, food, or similar highly regulated/consumer products is a plus)
  • Strong foundational knowledge of packaging materials (plastics, paperboard, corrugate, films, closures, etc.) and common converting/forming processes
  • Hands‑on experience with CAD tools and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel for analyzing data and building simple models; familiarity with ERP systems. Use of AI to enhance data analysis and problem solving
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills, with the ability to break down complex issues and collaborate under time pressure when needed
  • Exposure to change control, project work, supplier interaction, or manufacturing troubleshooting through internships, co‑ops, labs, or capstone projects
  • Familiarity with packaging testing, validation concepts, and stability programs (coursework or project exposure counts)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively on cross‑functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed packaging specifications for new and existing products, including primary and secondary packaging, tamper‑evident features, inner packs, ship cases, and pallet patterns.
  • Partner with Quality to support expiration dating and stability programs, including setting up, tracking, and interpreting packaging‑related studies.
  • Participate in change control processes for packaging components, suppliers, and packaging operations, ensuring technical accuracy and risk assessment.
  • Scout and share relevant packaging innovations and supplier capabilities with Product Innovation and Marketing to fuel new ideas and consumer‑centric designs.
  • Support technology transfer for acquired products and site‑to‑site moves, contributing to structured project plans and timelines.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and packaging line issues (materials, components, or equipment) and support implementation of solutions that protect supply and improve cost.
  • Support sourcing and implementation of new materials or designs for value engineering, sustainability, and business continuity.
  • Stay current on evolving packaging and end‑of‑life regulations; help frame how Advantice Health responds on sustainability, recyclability, and waste reduction.
  • Draft and update engineering specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), packaging instructions, and related technical documentation in our systems.
  • Review and provide input on packaging validation protocols, test reports, technical drawings, and color standards.
  • Design and optimize pallet patterns and case labeling templates; review proofs and ensure regulatory and customer alignment.
  • Review labeling layouts for fit, barcode placement, lot coding, equipment compatibility, and compliance with regulatory, customer, and GS1 requirements.
  • You will be supported by an experienced engineer and cross‑functional partners, with the opportunity to grow responsibility quickly as you demonstrate capability.
