About The Position

The Director, Technology leads San Diego PACE’s (SDP) technology strategy. This strategic and hands-on role is responsible for aligning technology initiatives with organizational goals, enhancing operational efficiency, and improving both the participant and staff experience within San Diego PACE. This role will manage staff who maintain the information technology infrastructure, systems, and applications used by the PACE programs. Director of Technology works with program leadership, technology resources and other stakeholders to ensure both compliance and innovations in provision of healthcare to participants. Essential Qualities Has a mindset towards service to help San Diego PACE achieve goals and outcomes. This dynamic position requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism, and diligence. Completes assigned work correctly and in a timely fashion. Able to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholder.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant work experience.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience leading complex technical projects or programs, preferably in IT, software, or systems implementation environments.
  • At least five (5) years of management or team leadership experience, overseeing cross-functional teams, project deliverables, and budgets.
  • Proven success in delivering projects on time and within scope, aligning technical execution with organizational goals.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, Agile, or equivalent) preferred but not required.
  • Technical Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle management, from planning and requirements gathering through deployment and post-implementation support.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Asana, Jira, or Smartsheet).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration technologies (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, or equivalent).
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, and technology integrations preferred.
  • Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting, frequent walking and standing; minimal lifting. May be required to work evenings and/or weekends and attend meetings outside of regular working hours. Travel may be required.
  • Universal Requirements
  • Pre employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs. Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters is a term and condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities for new technological programs and partnerships.
  • Develop and maintain a technology roadmap aligned with SDP’s strategic and operational planning efforts.
  • Advise leadership on emerging technologies and digital trends
  • Develop organizational strategic plans and budgets for new technology initiatives.
  • Lead IT strategic and operational planning, prioritizing initiatives and managing resources effectively
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, PACE Leadership Team, and technology vendors to align projects with organizational goals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation by leading digital transformation initiatives, including implementation, training, and support for new technologies
  • Manage and monitor the progress of technology projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Team Leadership
  • Build and maintain a high performing Technology team
  • Supervise and mentor the Technology Team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth
  • Coordinate training and development plans to enhance technical competencies and promote professional development
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching or mentorship to the Technology Team as needed
  • Staff Training and Support
  • Develop a technology training strategy and execute a training plan to enhance the current on-boarding training and develop a location-based training solution for end users
  • Oversee the development of digital training materials and ensure documentation is maintained
  • Develop SOPs and tools to help end users become more self-sufficient
  • Technology Operations
  • Oversee hardware inventory management, equipment relocation, and the implementation of clinical and financial applications
  • Adhere to San Ysidro Health’s IT security compliance (e.g., SOC2), HIPAA, and risk mitigation
  • Standardize project management systems and software implementations
  • Data Architecture and Management
  • Design internal and external data architectures to support collaboration and member engagement
  • Establish standardized processes and documentation for report requests to ensure consistency and efficiency
  • Ensure data is accessible, secure, and up to date
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Serve as a liaison between SDP and SYH IT teams and executive leadership
  • Work closely with other departments to identify technological needs and deliver solutions
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for IT services and products
  • Budget and Procurement
  • Manage technology project budgets, procurement processes, and funding decisions
  • Lead product evaluations and purchasing decisions
