The Indo-Pacific Regional Operations Department (N554) works with the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) and the Military Service Components on-island to inform warfighter requirements and Concepts of Operation (CONOPS), and provides Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems acquisition, engineering, and integration support to the Department of Defense (DOD) and U.S. Allies in the Pacific Theater. N554 is a dynamic and forward leaning organization that provides direct connections to warfighters. These direct connections allow staff to monitor and participate in current operations and exercises. A key output of this access is the ability to inform technology innovation and capability analysis with operational domain expertise. N554 operational depth and warfighter access has generated considerable expertise in the development and analysis of CONOPS, mission threads, use cases, and operational requirements. The Department establishes links between DoD sponsors and Coalition Partner development activities. N554 is on the cutting edge of current operations and is a major thought leader in force modernization. The Indo-Pacific Regional Operations Department (N554) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support MITRE’s Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) project within the Directorate of Operations (A3) at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. This position will support a growing operationally focused MITRE team at PACAF and will be instrumental in helping to achieve and optimize mission planning and drive innovation between PACAF Headquarters and the 613 Air Operations Center (AOC) via applied mission and systems engineering approaches.

Requirements

  • BS in a technical discipline, such as Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Computer), Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields and 5 years of experience, or a master’s degree and 3 years of experience; or a PhD; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Experience working day-to-day in government-controlled DoD spaces.
  • Experience across weapon systems and mission sets with system-of-systems engineering
  • Experience with US Department of Defense systems of systems integration.
  • Ability to work across Combatant Command and/or Service Component directorates/divisions to analyze and produce data-informed/technically sound innovative strategies for airspace deconfliction and optimized exercise and mission execution plans.
  • Possession of a strong systems engineering skillset with demonstrable success in applying systems engineering to system of systems challenges.
  • Possession of operational domain background and expertise in one or more of the following areas: airspace coordination/management, Air Force or Joint exercises, training ranges, and/or Air Force mission planning.
  • Familiarity with DoD military missions and demonstrated results for military sponsors
  • Effective and influential verbal and written communications skills.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Experience with Department of the Air Force systems and missions.
  • Experience with DoD airspace management, including working with the FAA and 3rd party host nations
  • Experience as project and department leadership roles including project leader, task leader, and group leader
  • Working knowledge of DoD training ranges and associated infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with MITRE project management processes, capabilities, and associated tools.
  • Demonstrated capability for strategic planning and ability to provide actionable plans to government sponsors.
  • Active TS/SCI
