About The Position

PA Surgery (Physician Assistant) Summary Summary: Provides safe, high quality patient care as a member of a physician directed healthcare team at NWHC. Serves as a resource to the attending medical staff as well as other team members. Responsibilities: Technical Duties Competently performs a wide range technical functions related to the PA role. Completes these functions in a safe and effective manner. Documentation Appropriately & accurately documents all patient encounters. Performs an accurate and comprehensive H & P. Discharge Planning Attends Patient Rounds on a daily basis and is prepared to present each patient. Anticipates patient discharge needs. Effectively communicates with other members of the patient care team. Clinical Therapeutics Understands and demonstrates knowledge of pharmacology and appropriate medication usage. Prescribes medications in a safe and cost-effective manner. Maintains compliance with all Hospital and external agency requirements related. Clinical assessment Able to identify routine and complex patient presentations. Able to identify normal and abnormal laboratory findings Able to identify normal and abnormal findings on routine imaging studies. Maintains Competencies ACLS/BCLS as required by position Completes all HealthStream Classes as required by position. Attends Departmental meetings on a regular basis. Participates in Medical Staff and Departmental educational programs. Communicates effectively and in a timely manner with members of the Medical staff. Communicates effectively and appropriately with all members of the patient care team. Cost-effective care Maintains knowledge of evidence based medicine and treatment plans. Maintains compliance with all regulations regarding provider and institutional reimbursement. Appropriately orders necessary diagnostic and therapeutic intervention. Represents the department on various hospital and departmental committees as requested. able to first and second assist on a wide variety of surgical procedures. Requirements

  • 1-3 years
  • Master of Physician Assistant Studies
  • Physician Assistant License - Current Maryland license or eligibility to obtain Maryland license
  • Controlled Dangerous Substances License - Current Maryland license or eligibility to obtain Maryland license
  • DEA Controlled Substance Registration
  • Physician Assistant - Certified
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
  • Basic Life Support
