About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work under the general supervision of their Medical Director, all physician partners, and their APP Manager in WakeMed Physician Practices to deliver competent medical care to patients at WakeMed. This position can consist of both inpatient and outpatient care depending on the needs of the service and is outlined in the clinical job expectations. This may include completion of referrals, consults, daily patient rounds, daily notes, discharge summaries, procedures, clinic notes, pre and post procedure care, prescribing, and patient care follow-ups. Will work closely with other healthcare providers in a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to maximize the care we provide to our patients. As a healthcare professional, will function as an educator for PA/NP/CNM students from healthcare education programs. Within this position, the PA/NP will maintain the scope of practice to be consistent with the policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines governed by the North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing and any other federal or state regulatory agencies as well as the policies and procedures of WakeMed. Additional certifications such as Advanced Life Support may be required based on clinical area of practice outlined in the clinical job expectations and reviewed annually during the annual review process. The PA/NP understands the needs of the organization and supports the mission, values, and management of WakeMed.

Requirements

  • Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
  • DEA Required
  • Basic Life Support Required within 6 months of hire
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant or Master's Degree in Physician Assistant required
  • Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Nursing required
  • 1 Year Surgical Experience Required as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

Responsibilities
