About The Position

UPMC's Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider to join our Vascular Surgery team. This is a full-time position for a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care) based primarily at UPMC Passavant, with occasional travel to Jameson and Sewickley. The schedule consists of 10-hour shifts, 4 days a week from Monday through Friday, with no on-call or weekends. The role involves approximately 40% hospital rounding, 40% outpatient clinic, and 10% operating room responsibilities. The department focuses on creating comprehensive care for vascular surgery patients with complex medical conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings, fostering a highly collaborative environment between vascular surgeons and advanced practice providers.

Requirements

  • Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with current state license.
  • Completion of an approved nurse practitioner program or physician assistant program accredited by ARC-PA.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience or completion of a post-graduate residency for senior level.
  • BSN, MSN preferred for CRNP; BS or MS preferred for PA.
  • National certification and eligibility for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing or NCCPA.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience.
  • Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting.
  • Completion of an OAPP approved professional contribution within one year of hire or promotion.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage in clinical development of all members of the healthcare team.

  • Identify patient and family needs for education and provide basic education to support the episode of care.
  • Demonstrate accountability for professional development that improves the quality of patient care.
