About The Position

Under the supervision of the Division Chief, Associate Division Chief, APP Leader, and Collaborating Physicians, the Physician Assistant (PA) will practice within the Memory Division of the Department of Neurology. The PA will conduct outpatient clinical visits (both in-person and via telehealth) and work collaboratively across departments and divisions to ensure continuity of care. The PA will play a key role in the evaluation and longitudinal management of patients with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, including those enrolled in the Alzheimer Therapeutics Program receiving disease-modifying anti-amyloid therapies. This role includes managing complex cases, contributing to clinical decision-making, and supporting safe and effective treatment delivery. In addition, the PA will contribute to the development, refinement, and expansion of care models that extend beyond the traditional clinic setting, with the goal of enhancing care integration and improving the patient and caregiver experience. This position requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as initiative and adaptability. The ideal candidate is flexible, able to work independently, and comfortable engaging in a range of clinical and programmatic activities. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to effectively interact with patients, caregivers, and multidisciplinary team members. Requirements

  • Physician Assistant Licensure
  • Physician Assistant Certification
  • Master’s or Doctoral Degree in given PA discipline.
  • The desire to utilize a patient-centered app roach to produce the highest quality of care
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication, and public speaking skills
  • Good command of English language, including medical and scientific terminology.
  • EPIC , electronic medical record experience.
  • Skills to work efficiently and effectively and strive to do so in all aspects of position.
  • Ability to app ropriately evaluate all aspects of a situation and to independently make app ropriate and timely decisions .
  • Ability to coordinate among diverse populations.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters discreetly and to ensure confidentiality guidelines are maintained by staff .
  • Knowledge in aspects of safety ap plicable to position
  • Knowledge of and compliance with institutional, Joint Commission, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies’ standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical care: 8 four-hour clinical sessions per week ( 32 patient facing hours) and 2 four-hour continuity of care/administrative time (8 hours per week) to complete non patient facing work such as EPIC inbasket messages, notes, lab work etc.
  • Collaborates with outside facilities and clinical staff for certain patients, and to provide general information about caring for patients to other caregivers including outside hospitals, PCP’s, VNA, and private help.
  • Collaborates with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Explore innovative ways to disseminate patient and community education materials to enhance continuity of care.
  • Prescribes or recommends medications or other forms of treatment.
  • Maintains accurate and timely notes in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintains active PA licensure, MCSR/DEA licensure, and BLS/ACLS certification
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Attend appropriate Neurology seminars, conferences, lectures, and other forums to support continuing medical education as approved by the Division leadership
  • Provides teaching to medical students and physician assistant students and other health care personnel as appropriate
  • Participates in quality improvement efforts and research efforts as directed by the service leadership
  • Partakes in PA and Neurology Resident teaching opportunities through discussion of clinical cases and other educational sessions
  • Participates in the PA student education program in Neurology
  • Stays up to date on the latest literature in Neurology care
  • Participates PA grand rounds and or other educational forums on the topic of neurology
  • Communicates openly with supervising physicians and Department/Division leadership to improve patient, family, and care team satisfaction
  • Performs other duties as assigned
