Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies.
• Current NYS licensure.
• NCCPA certification.
• DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) registration number.

• Experience working in General Surgery.
• Epic experience.

Responsibilities

• Write admission orders as requested by the accepting or admitting physician.
• Perform and document history and physical examination.
• Perform daily assessment, consultations, and documentation.
• Order appropriate laboratory tests and diagnostic studies according to clinical diagnosis, clinical pathways, and protocols.
• Obtain informed consent in conformance with organization policies and procedures.
• Management of patient within the scope of practice.
• Assist with discharge planning/needs of patients and document discharge summary.
• Act as procedural assistant including first and second assist in the operating room.
• Perform arterial puncture (ABG).
• Insert and remove nasogastric tubes.
• Perform urinary bladder catheterization (short-term and indwelling).
• Conduct venous punctures for blood sampling, cultures, and IV catheterization.
