About The Position

Leads one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental or traffic. Serves as section manager to professionals providing professional support in one or more of the areas listed. Leads one or more of the following areas: Project delivery, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental or traffic. This position is responsible for managing the planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects that improve mobility and safety across the state of Georgia. Under general supervision of the Assistant P3 Pre-let Administrator and/or P3 Program Manager, provides "cradle-to-grave" oversight for assigned P3 or Design Build (DB) projects that are part of the P3 Division Program. Manage, review, and coordinate all phases of P3/DB (or complex) transportation projects, including contract administration in accordance with approved processes and procedures, including the technical and administrative contract documents and other Department requirements. Manage, review, and exercise delegated authorities in accordance with adopted protocols acting on behalf of GDOT. Review and recommend approvals/changes for contract and project issues. Work closely with the PMC team, GDOT P3 staff and other GDOT Offices to develop project schedules and recovery work plans (as needed) that meet the requirements of the contract consistent with the overall Master Program Schedule and the overall P3 program. Provide oversight and coordination of the PMC and the GEC responsible to navigate P3/DB projects through all pre-let activities (including but not limited to) feasibility analyses, scoping, concept engineering and plan development, NEPA/GEPA, costing plan development, development of procurement documents and support through the procurement processes including one on one meetings and ATC reviews and negotiations. Collaborate with internal GDOT offices, local governments, and external stakeholders. Provide leadership, technical guidance, and coordination among multidisciplinary project teams. This position will report to the General Office located in Atlanta, Georgia. Travel is required for this position.

Requirements

  • Associate degree and managerial or supervisory role; or one (1) year at the lower level Mgr 1, Transport Specialist (TRM030) or position equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in transportation project management, roadway or bridge design, or related engineering work.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience as an advanced project manager, handling moderate to advanced transportation related projects.
  • Responds to change with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives.
  • Monitors and checks work or information and plans and organizes time and resources efficiently.
