The position is responsible for providing a secure environment and reducing public safety risks on the college campus. The individual will play a crucial role in protecting persons and property from unlawful activities while ensuring a safe and secure campus environment. This includes observing and reporting any unlawful or unauthorized activity, identifying suspicious persons, behaviors, and circumstances that may pose a public safety risk, and taking immediate and appropriate action to prevent incidents. The role requires regular patrolling of the campus and buildings, monitoring building conditions, and responding to unsafe conditions, hazards, and emergencies, all while adhering to established safety guidelines. In addition to patrolling, the individual will respond to public safety alarms and assist with lockouts. Enforcing parking regulations, providing directions, and responding to requests for assistance and information are also key responsibilities. The position may involve handling special assignments directed by the Public Safety Director or Supervisors, such as driving the campus shuttle between locations on a regular or intermittent schedule, managing special events, serving at reception or visitor building posts, and working in the command office as needed. This multifaceted role requires a proactive approach to ensure the safety and security of the campus community.
