About The Position

The Custodial Specialist is responsible for maintaining the clean and orderly state of the buildings and grounds at all three Esperanza Health Center sites. The Custodial Specialist provides environmental services using cleaning equipment, machines, and supplies; performs cleaning, sanitation, and other custodial tasks, participates in seasonal maintenance projects such as snow removal and landscaping, and participates in emergency situations. The Custodial Specialist works evenings and weekends and travels from site to site as assigned. This position typically works scheduled hours between 5-9PM, totaling 15-20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide environmental services
• Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures
• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs and refill restroom dispensers
• Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
• Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets
• Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
• Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments
• Lock and unlock assigned buildings; secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights
• Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies; use as directed
• Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis
• Wash accessible interior and exterior windows; clean blinds; launder cleaning rags and mops
• Wash dishes or utensils as required
• Perform clean up and maintenance projects as requested
• Maintain the cleanliness and general orderliness of the interior and exterior of all sites
• Participate in seasonal maintenance projects including snow removal, landscaping and window washing
• Provide custodial services at retreats, as requested
• Attend to emergencies when necessary
• Attend safety meetings and other related meetings
• Perform related duties as assigned
