The P&C Commissioning Technician I will perform acceptance testing and pre-commissioning of protection and control (P&C) equipment in the factory using procedures set-forth by Systems Control and its utility partners.
Apply protective relay settings and perform testing that validates proper function
Apply RTU settings and verify status, metering, and control functions
Troubleshoot and problem-solve when deficiencies are identified
Perform testing procedures and document the results completely, in accordance with internal and customer-specific requirements
Keep up-to-date with utility industry trends and practices by attending relevant training opportunities
Provide technical support to engineering, manufacturing and test departments
Identify potential process improvements and collaborate with other team members
Notify designers and engineers of deficiencies identified during testing
Execute testing procedures that ensure elements of P&C design are properly applied and functioning as intended
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience
Minimum 1 year of testing electric utility P&C equipment
NFPA and OSHA safety certified, or ability to become certified
Commitment to continued education, training, and learning new tasks
Familiar with some electric utility industry testing and documentation requirements
General understanding of the operation, application, and testing of protective relays
Understand the importance of safe work practices associated with the electric utility industry
Ability to incorporate human performance tools into daily work practices
Familiar with RTU point assignments and checkout
Strong attention to detail with proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-starter able to work both in teams and individually with limited supervision
Familiar with electric utility P&C schematic and wiring diagrams
Competent with Microsoft Office Suite programs: Excel, Outlook, Word
