About The Position

To teach in Division of Education, with focus on P-5 Elementary and Intervention Specialist programs for the Walsh University Ohio undergraduate and graduate endorsement or post-baccalaureate license coursework, as assigned. Will assist division leadership and faculty in P-5 Elementary Program curricular development, alignment with national standards and state requirements, program assessment and approval submissions. May supervise clinical student teaching, teach graduate level course(s) or other undergraduate courses as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctorate/Terminal Degree in P-5 Elementary Education or Intervention Specialist/Special Education preferred, MAED/ISE required.
  • Minimum of 3 years in P-5 classroom teaching experience with special education teaching experience.
  • Academic background in intervention specialist (special education).
  • Experience in online course development and teaching preferred.
  • Classroom teaching experience license/certification in the field in which the teaching occurred or related specialization and best practice pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of program standards proposed by appropriate national standards/Specialized Professional Association (SPA), including one or more of the following: Council for Accreditation Educator Prep (CAEP) P-6 Elementary Standards, or Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty.
  • Positive attitude a must.
  • Background and/or experience in Science of Reading literacy preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach full-time load of four courses each semester for the Division of Education, with primary focus on P-5 Elementary and Intervention Specialist coursework (Undergraduate and Post-Baccalaureate).
  • Assist in curricular development and alignment with required professional standards.
  • Collaborate with division faculty and campus instructional design team for course development/implementation.
  • Advise education undergraduate and post-baccalaureate candidates as assigned.
  • Participate in division service and scholarship activities.
  • Participate in divisional assessment, state reporting, and CAEP accreditation work.
  • Assist division leadership team in program writing and submissions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues for grant opportunities and service-based programs with school and community partners.
  • Provide service to profession, community partners, and university.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
