About The Position

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) is a company operating in 164 airport locations, 18 countries, and on 5 continents, specializing in cargo, passenger, ramp handling, and technical services. The Lead Technician is responsible for responding to emergency situations and performing preventive and corrective maintenance for electrical and mechanical systems during dwell periods and non-operational hours. This role involves coordinating personnel activities to meet service delivery mandates, providing technical guidance, and supervising and motivating operational personnel. The Lead Technician ensures work complies with contract requirements and established safety and security standards, trains and mentors employees, assists the General Manager in evaluating performance, and coordinates with staff and customers regarding specification changes and quality assurance. They also monitor adherence to good housekeeping and safety regulations, taking corrective actions as needed, and perform other duties as assigned by management. The scope of the job may vary with the size of the operation and its primary line of business.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule for a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Background check and drug screen required
  • Must be able to attain and sustain an Airport I.D. Badge
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working on jet bridges.
  • Electrical training and experience in an industrial environment or minimum 2 years' experience as maintenance mechanic

Nice To Haves

  • Hands on working knowledge of PBB and GSE systems with the ability to do PM’s, troubleshoot and repair.
  • Working knowledge of PBB and GSE support equipment such as HVAC, GPU’s, Potable Water Systems, Vehicle Electrical System Troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and electrical drawings related to the equipment being maintained.
  • Ability to resolve PLC issues.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain superior customer service and safe working practice at ALL times.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains machinery and electrical equipment such as motors, electrical circuits, SICK ATR systems, baggage handling equipment and conveyor systems in accordance with diagrams, electrical drawings, operational manuals and manufacturer’s specifications using hand tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Inspect diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Communicate with various parties on the work performed and present status of specialty systems.
  • Analyze root causes of Electrical failures and propose remedy and resolution as well as continuous monitoring for ways to improve and optimize the system.
  • Interpret schematics and engineering drawings in reference to layout, location, and operation of the system(s).
  • React to call outs from the Control Room Operator or manager executing service calls CM, PM and EM.
  • Preventive Maintenance – Inspection, adjustment, cleaning, replacement and prepare follow-up CM work orders if needed.
