About The Position

The Overnight Youth Counselor at Brighter Transition Youth Treatment Center is responsible for providing direct supervision and support to adolescents aged 16-20 who are transitioning from long-term residential programs. This role involves acting as a role model, ensuring the safety and security of the residents, and maintaining a structured environment during overnight shifts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• 1 year of experience in a relevant field is preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with clients in a juvenile or mental health setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform bed checks using a geothermal imager to ensure correct student count and identification.
• Handle emergencies by notifying the appropriate individuals and providing first aid until help arrives.
• Maintain a communication log to document all observed interactions and significant incidents during the shift.
• Effectively communicate critical incidents involving students and staff, both in writing and orally.
• Recognize escalating behaviors and intervene appropriately to ensure safety and security.
