As a Veterinary Technician Supervisor, you will be a critical leader within our hospital, responsible for overseeing the performance, professionalism, and productivity of our overnight veterinary technician and client services team. Your role will include setting ensuring the top level of care is provided to patients and clients, promoting accountability, fostering a proactive culture, and ensuring consistent team productivity. You will guide and support the team while modeling the high standards of excellence. As a member of the VCA team, your mission will be to win the confidence of every pet parent, by delivering an outstanding client experience, so we can provide exceptional care to every patient. You’ve worked hard for your credentials (RVT and VTS), and the knowledge that you’ve invested your time and talent to obtain is vital to improving the quality of life for our patients. The skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to: • Venipuncture • Catheter placement • Radiology • Anesthesia monitoring • Physical examinations and patient assessment • Surgical preparation and assisting • Laboratory work • Pharmacy • Patient recovery • Compassionate care for our hospitalized patients

Requirements

Registered Veterinary Technician Certification (California)
2+ years of experience in leading a medical team

Nice To Haves

Veterinary Technician Specialist Certification or Equivalent experience

Responsibilities

Set Clear Expectations: Communicate duties, clinical protocols, and behavioral standards to all team members to ensure clarity and alignment with clinic goals.
Promote Accountability: Ensure team members take ownership of their responsibilities, follow through on tasks, and address performance issues promptly. Provide constructive feedback and enforce standards consistently.
Encourage Proactiveness: Create a culture where team members actively seek opportunities to contribute, anticipate the needs of the clinic, veterinarians, and patients, and address tasks without waiting to be directed.
Ensure Team Productivity: Hold team members accountable for staying engaged and productive throughout their shifts, ensuring tasks such as patient care, cleaning, stocking, and assisting colleagues are completed during downtime.
Provide Guidance and Feedback: Offer ongoing coaching, support, and feedback to help team members grow in their roles, while addressing underperformance or concerns promptly and effectively.
Lead by Example: Demonstrate professionalism, initiative, and a strong work ethic to model the standards expected from the team.
