About The Position

The Residential Support Specialist position is a full-time role located in Gresham, OR, focusing on providing supportive services to adults disabled by serious mental illness. The position requires working overnight shifts from Sunday to Thursday, specifically from 11 PM to 7 AM. The role involves ensuring a clean and organized environment, supporting residents in their individual recovery goals, and assisting with medication administration as ordered by licensed medical professionals. Responsibilities include leading activities, implementing treatment plan interventions, and providing skills training as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must have a criminal records clearance through the State Mental Health Division prior to starting employment.
  • Must be tested for tuberculosis within two weeks of date of hire.
  • Must undergo a minimum of 16 hours pre-service orientation.
  • Regular in-service training on issues relevant to residential care totaling not less than 8 hours a year.
  • QMHA credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand Oregon rules regarding Home and Community Based mental health services.
  • Assist clients with daily living skills such as keeping appointments and completing household tasks.
  • Assist clients with individual goals based on their person-centered plans and Residential Service Plans.
  • Oversee house safety including fire drills and resolving disputes among residents.
  • Ensure the facility is clean, orderly, and safe at all times.
  • Provide healthy meals and manage kitchen clean up.
  • Encourage residents to participate in organized physical activity and promote healthy eating habits.
  • Maintain cleanliness of food storage areas, common areas, and employee office.
  • Complete all shift duties required by the facility.
  • Assist residents with deep cleaning and laundry.
  • Conduct contraband checks as allowed by residents and OARs.
  • Distribute medication according to physicians’ orders and New Narrative policy.
  • Review each resident’s eMAR at the end of each shift to ensure documentation is complete.
  • Encourage residents to learn about their medications.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and document all interactions with residents.
  • Escort and supervise residents during community outings.
  • Document all critical incidents in a timely manner and notify the supervisor immediately.
  • Complete shift summary and individual resident notes each shift.
  • Adhere to all New Narrative policies and procedures and the NASW Code of Ethics.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by House Manager, Facility Administrator, or Residential Program Manager.

Benefits

  • $21.50/hour + $1.50/hr. addition for overnight differential.
