Join us at Flying Horse Resort and Club, your success starts now. ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides a highly visible overnight security presence. Conducts comprehensive physical rounds of all facilities and grounds; performs risk management and safety checks (including shut-off valves, alarms, and leak detection); monitors access control and security camera systems; and responds to incidents and alarms with professionalism, discretion, and a high level of member and guest service.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in security, hospitality, law enforcement, facilities, or a related field preferred.
  • State security license or guard card as required, or ability to obtain within a legally permitted timeframe.
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license where driving is required for job duties; must be eligible to safely operate club vehicles or golf carts.
  • Ability to work independently overnight with sound judgment, discretion, and integrity.
  • Computer proficiency, including CCTV monitoring, access control systems, and electronic incident reporting.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and strong customer service orientation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a resort, country club, or hotel environment.
  • Familiarity with fire alarm panels, refrigeration temperature monitoring, and basic mechanical or electrical room safety.
  • De-escalation training.
  • Successful completion of a job-related background screening and, if applicable, drug testing, conducted in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts scheduled and timed physical rounds of all areas, including but not limited to: clubhouse, lodging, banquet spaces, kitchens and food & beverage outlets, bars, spa and fitness facilities, pools, outdoor tennis courts, tennis bubble, golf facilities (pro shop and cart barn), maintenance buildings, mechanical rooms, server rooms, storage areas, loading docks, parking lots, and the property perimeter.
  • Verifies doors, windows, gates, and garages are secured according to lock-up schedules; documents findings and corrects unsecured points when authorized.
  • Inspects for leaks, unusual noises or odors (including gas), overheating equipment, and other potential hazards; isolates issues when safe to do so and escalates per protocol.
  • Checks water and gas shut-off valves for accessibility and signs of leakage; confirms sprinkler risers and valves are in normal operating positions; observes fire pump and gauge conditions.
  • Monitors fire alarm control panels and associated systems; responds to alarms; coordinates with local fire authorities as required; assists with evacuation and re-entry procedures.
  • Ensures egress routes remain clear; inspects fire extinguishers, AEDs, and oxygen equipment for presence and charge indicators.
  • Reviews refrigeration and freezer temperatures, boiler/HVAC mechanical spaces, sump pumps, domestic hot water systems, and irrigation pump rooms; logs readings and escalates variances.
  • Conducts pool and spa equipment room checks and chemical storage safety inspections in accordance with policy.
  • Manages lock and unlock schedules; controls after-hours access; escorts vendors and contractors; verifies credentials.
  • Responds to disturbances, trespassing, theft, noise complaints, elevator entrapments, and medical incidents; utilizes de-escalation techniques; preserves scenes and evidence as required.
  • Provides safety escorts, directions, and assistance with after-hours needs; supports a calm, courteous, and professional overnight environment.
  • Manages lost and found items in accordance with policy and protects member and guest privacy.
  • Responds to severe weather alerts; assists with shelter-in-place or evacuation procedures; deploys signage and barriers for hazards such as wet floors or restricted areas.
  • Initiates authorized isolation procedures (e.g., closing valves, shutting down equipment) and promptly notifies on-call engineering or management staff.
  • Completes detailed daily activity reports, patrol logs, and incident reports, including photographs when appropriate.
  • Immediately escalates critical issues to on-call engineering or management and provides thorough shift handoffs.
  • Follows all club policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable fire and life safety standards.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and uniform; uses required PPE appropriately; upholds hospitality standards when interacting with staff, vendors, members, and guests.
  • Identifies recurring hazards and process gaps; collaborates with engineering and operations teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Keeps standard operating procedures (SOPs), patrol routes, and checklists current with seasonal operations and special events.
