About The Position

The Overnight Security Guard at Brevard Zoo is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the zoo outside of regular operating hours. This part-time position involves conducting regular patrols, monitoring safety systems, and enforcing security policies to protect the zoo's animals, guests, and staff. The role requires strong observational skills and the ability to respond to emergencies while ensuring a secure environment in a unique setting.

Requirements

• At least 21 years old
• Valid high school diploma or GED equivalent
• Class D security license or equivalent combination of training and/or experience
• Minimum 5 years of security experience or equivalent combination of training and experience

Nice To Haves

• Experience at an AZA institution, theme park, or comparative equivalency
• Experience working overnight shifts

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of Zoo grounds to ensure safety and security.
• Monitor safety systems and respond to incidents or emergencies as they arise.
• Submit reports on security incidents and conditions that may pose safety hazards.
• Enforce security policies to protect Zoo animals, guests, and staff.
• Assist vendors, contractors, and employees outside of operating hours as needed.
• Monitor guests and support event staff during events hosted outside operating hours.
• Ensure gates, buildings, and exhibits are properly secured.
• Communicate effectively with guests, peers, and management across all departments.
