About The Position

The Overnight Safety & Security Associate at Catholic Charities is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the facility and its participants. This role involves welcoming and assisting visitors, conducting rounds, monitoring surveillance, responding to emergencies, and maintaining documentation. The associate will enforce shelter rules, communicate with staff, and support the mission and values of Catholic Charities.

Requirements

  • Experience working with people in crisis.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful and/or emergency situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Basic knowledge of word processing and typing ability to enter participant information.
  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college or technical school preferred.
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

  • Politely welcome, greet, and assist all participants and visitors.
  • Conduct internal and external rounds throughout the facility to monitor and ensure safety.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and public areas for improper conduct or unauthorized persons.
  • Adhere to Agency confidentiality and HIPAA expectations.
  • Respond to and assist with emergency situations in the building or on the grounds.
  • Follow procedures and guidelines set forth in operating guidelines manual(s).
  • Complete all required documentation/data accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain current knowledge of ongoing events and changes by reading old logs.
  • Enforce shelter rules uniformly and consistently.
  • Respond appropriately to needs and crisis situations.
  • Communicate with other staff to resolve problems with individual participants.
  • Complete necessary records and reports as directed.
  • Provide appropriate information and referrals.
  • Keep supervisor informed on shelter developments.
  • Support, promote, and adhere to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values, and Code of Ethics.
  • Reflect Catholic Charities’ commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect.
  • Use creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
  • Maintain confidentiality of participant and agency information.
  • Ensure regular and predictable attendance.
  • Complete security guard training and licensing.
  • Complete all mandatory trainings as stated by the agency or supervisor.
