About The Position

Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking an Overnight Residential Youth Counselor to work as part of a team providing supervision and trauma informed care of children within the residential program. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 1-2 years related experience and/or training
  • Must successfully complete all required background and pre-employment checks

Responsibilities

  • Maintain vigilant supervision and nurture children through one-on-one communication and care.
  • Assist children with hygiene, diet, and getting ready for school.
  • Document required messages and complete daily reports.
  • Discipline as needed, respond to aggressive behavior, and maintain group order.
  • Screen, assess, and manage children’s pain. Contact RN or emergency 911 when necessary.
  • Ensure safety standards and infection control policies are followed.
  • Assist in keeping unit clean and orderly. Bag and launder when necessary.
