The Public Safety Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by being alert to potential threats through patrols and electronic surveillance, responding to emergency incidents, disturbances, and requests for assistance in accordance with the Crisis Management Plan and department policies and procedures. Responsible for maintaining smooth operation of garage entry and exit process, providing excellent customer service with garage operational issues and taking immediate and effective action to minimize service disruptions to staff, interns, volunteers, contractors, or guests.

  • The ideal candidate will have at least 6 months experience previously working in a Security and/or Public Safety capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings and trainings to ensure working knowledge of the Crisis Management Plan and proficiency in all emergency procedures to effectively respond to threats to the safety and security of staff, guests, and property. Emergency incidents include but are not limited to bomb threats, fire, natural disasters, power or equipment failure, lost children, medical incidents, disorderly persons or disturbances, robbery or other violent acts, and animal escapes.
  • Successfully participate in mandatory trainings including Management of Aggressive Behavior, CPR/1st Aid/AED for Adults, Children and Infants, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Crowd Manager to comply with state and federal regulations and effectively execute emergency procedures during incident response.
  • Patrols Museum to ensure the safety & security of staff, volunteers, interns, guests, and property; being alert to potential threats and taking appropriate action in accordance with the Crisis Management Plan and departmental policies and procedures
  • Expeditiously responds to all incidents, disturbances or requests for assistance, including but not limited to those noted above, to minimize potential threats to the safety and security of staff, volunteers, interns, guests and property. Compiles detailed incident reports to maintain documentation of incident response and outcome.
  • Thoroughly documents incident response and activities using the iTrak report writing program, conducting limited investigations as needed in order to compile accurate and detailed information.
  • Operates and monitors CCure 9000 & Victor Client CCTV to monitor access and security alarms to effectively respond to alarms and ensure a safe and secure environment
  • Operates and monitors Skidata garage system to ensure smooth garage entry and exit process including but not limited to assisting guests at payment kiosks and entry/exit and troubleshooting hardware and software issues
  • Monitors garage and driveway activity to ensure efficient entry & exit and takes appropriate action including but not limited to closing the garage to incoming traffic, working with State Police to control traffic, and assisting guests with alternate parking arrangements
  • Perform other work related duties as required by Manager.
  • Shift Schedule: Friday-Tuesday (12am-8am)
