Responsible for the operation of a manufacturing and/or packaging line(s), to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company for an 8 or 12-hour shift. This position involves tending manual or semiautomatic systems that process chemical substances into industrial or consumer products, such as sealants, adhesives, primers, and intermediates. The operator will load specified amounts of solid and liquid materials into heating/cooling vessels or blending tanks, and turn valves or set controls to feed materials and start automatic processes. They will observe chemical reactions, monitor gauges, signals, and recorders, and make operating adjustments based on observations or notifications from quality control, supervisors, or other workers. Drawing samples for quality control analysis is also a key part of the role. Additionally, the position requires the use of a forklift to package, palletize, shrink-wrap, and stage Sika products into a staging area or directly onto trucks for transportation. The operator is also responsible for adhering to all safety rules, maintaining good housekeeping, and performing minor maintenance on equipment, workstations, and manufacturing areas, as well as assisting with special projects as assigned.
