We are seeking a porter/dishwasher to support the overall cleanliness, efficiency, and safety of our kitchen operations. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, including thorough cleaning of floors, surfaces, and equipment, as well as performing light maintenance tasks to support daily operations.

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years of porter and/or dishwasher experience in a café, restaurant, or food service business.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness.
  • Basic understanding of kitchen sanitation, safety, and light maintenance practices.
  • Proficiency in keeping the dish area organized and free of clutter.
  • Strong work ethic, well-organized, focused, attentive to detail with a sense of urgency.
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Enthusiastic, team player with a positive attitude.
  • Able to communicate effectively with team members.
  • Respectful of fellow employees, managers, and vendors.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., reach, bend, and stand throughout an 8-hour shift.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the kitchen area is clean and organized, including floors, countertops, and cooking equipment.
  • Efficiently wash, rinse, and sanitize soiled dishes, utensils, and cookware. Sort and store clean dishes properly.
  • Dispose of waste and recyclables according to established procedures. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of waste disposal areas.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and appliances.
  • Perform additional cleaning tasks as needed, such as mopping floors, cleaning surfaces, and restocking supplies.
  • Assist with general kitchen cleaning tasks to uphold hygiene and sanitation standards.
  • Keep the dish area free of clutter and organized to facilitate smooth operations and ensure easy access to necessary items.
  • Perform light maintenance duties, such as replacing light bulbs, tightening loose fixtures, minor equipment adjustments, unclogging drains, and reporting larger maintenance issues to management.
  • Support facility upkeep by ensuring storage areas, hallways, and common spaces are tidy and hazard-free.
