About The Position

First-time parents expecting 5/17/2026 are seeking a kind, caring, and utmost professional Newborn Care Specialist for overnights once the baby is born. The schedule will be 7pm-7am (12 hours). They reside in Eagle Rock but may be relocating to Pasadena (5 minutes away) by the time the baby is due. The schedule will be: 7 days a week for the first month, 6 days a week for the next 3 months, and then 5 days a week for the last 2 months; making for a total of a 6 month contract. However, they can be flexible if they have a top candidate who prefers a slightly different schedule/timing availability. This role is live-out when not working overnights so the candidate to hire must be local and have a reasonable commute in order to be prompt to work.

• Hands-on and resourceful, but also knows when to give the family space
• Comfortable around dogs, not allergic (they have 1 rescue dog, mixed breed, about 50 lbs. who is lovely but energetic [non-hypoallergenic])
• Being vaccinated important to the parents (including Covid, Tdap, flu, and all standard vaccines)
• Dependable personal transportation in order to get to/from work reliably
• Parents are engineers/scientists so a candidate into Western medicine/pragmatic is important to them

Responsibilities

• Prioritizing the safety and well-being of the baby at all times
• Provide professional guidance as it pertains to baby care while respecting the family’s personal preferences
• Encourage healthy sleep habits and follow safe sleep guidelines
• Implementing an effective sleep and feeding routine that the parents can continue once the contract has finished
• Baby laundry, bottle/pump part cleaning and sanitizing (if needed), and cleaning of toys and other baby items
• Recommending products for baby and the nursery (if needed)
• Working collaboratively with parents
