About The Position

The Overnight Maintenance/Janitorial position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the Co-op facility, performing basic repairs, and providing friendly customer service. The role involves routine cleaning tasks, maintenance of the building and grounds, and ensuring a welcoming environment for shoppers.

Requirements

• Knowledge of basic plant and mechanical repair.
• Experience in a retail environment.
• Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments and handle multiple demands.
• Demonstrated success in keeping track of details.
• Ability to carry items up and down stairs and work in cold/wet conditions.

Responsibilities

• Carry out posted cleaning responsibilities (vacuuming, dusting, mopping, etc.) in a timely manner.
• Maintain store proper, basement, offices, and receiving areas in good working order; carry out basic repairs as needed.
• Keep all implements and equipment clean and in good repair; ensure supplies are well stocked.
• Be vigilant for unusual areas that need cleaning and communicate observations to the supervisor.
• Oversee the organization of and keep tidy the tool areas and cleaning closet.
• Participate in large or special cleaning projects as scheduled.
• Keep front sidewalk and rear entrance swept and free of trash.
• Ensure proper handling of store trash and recycling.
• Participate in snow shoveling, weeding, and gardening.
• Greet customers as they enter the market and offer assistance.
• Direct customers to product locations and check prices when asked.
• Report any problems or inquiries to the manager on duty.
