About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in vibrant Downtown Manhattan, NY, is seeking a passionate and skilled Overnight Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated Emergency during the week! Working overnight offers unique benefits, including quieter commutes, a more focused work environment, and shift differentials to boost your earning potential. This position offers up to a $25k sign-on bonus. Pay: $30.00 - $55.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials. This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience. We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician certification.
  • Experience in emergency veterinary care.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • VTS credentialing.
  • Experience with digital radiography.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
  • Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
  • Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  • Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  • Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
  • Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  • Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
  • Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
