About The Position

The Overnight Janitorial Manager supervises custodial operations across campus buildings of assigned Zones to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, faculty, and visitors. This role includes managing custodial frontline staff, managing schedules and supplies, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Requirements

  • At least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and industry standards.
  • Ability to supervise a diverse team and foster a positive work environment.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office and facility management software.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred: Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management or related field preferred.
  • Experience in a higher education or large institutional setting preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate custodial staff, including leads.
  • Develop work schedules and adjust staffing levels to meet operational needs.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness and adherence to university standards.
  • Adhere to Key Performance Indicators driven by Smart Inspect data as it pertains to proper client reporting.
  • Supervise distribution of cleaning supplies and equipment; place orders as needed.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance and cleaning requests from university departments.
  • Maintain safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance, groundskeeping, and other university services.
  • Provide training during onboarding and ongoing training of custodial staff.
